Scribbled

I hope no one reads this............

I just want to open up and shout....I really really want to....Why me?....

A day hasn't passed since last so many year where I have not felt this excruciating pain in the heart.....but there was/is no audience and there can not be.....

Friends think I am a fool....I might be...and it's not there fault either...it's such a complex emotion.....even I can not make them understand it....

and my dear family.....they had been so naive about it all the time...

Despite all this...one solace was there...that it can end with in a matter of seconds...but even that now seems more like a distant dream than reality....

River Rafting Expedition

Crossing all the initial hurdles, all 7 of us started our rafting expedition on 25th April barring all the uncertainties arising due to married life (read with respect to Nandu) and ill health (mental I mean, read with respect to Jayuu).

The great Indian railway gave us a nice jolt for not planning in advance and allotted us seats so scattered that all our dreams of playing tirrat and boozing were shattered but nevertheless we enjoyed our train journey. We once again proved that we guys are made for standing on railway bogiee gates than sitting in the comfortable AC coaches. We would get down on every station and sip tea on eat something. Nilya wanted to drink tea in kulhad but since Laloo raj has long gone we couldn’t find one.

Anyways we reached Delhi…our Nation’s capital and after some hard searching and bargaining (hats off to Sourya n Nilya they are really good at it), we settled comfortably in the hotel room for the day. Having refreshed ourselves we set ourselves on exploring delhi ki galiyan (well not exactly galiya as we travelled mostly in New Delhi area). After long journey, we all were famished and had great Punjabi food which only delhi can offer… Oh and before that how could guys miss a pre lunch quicky.  Having quenched our thirsts and satiated our stomach…we sailed out to explore Delhi more. The first stop was of course Rashtrapati bhavan…”Wow” were the only word that could come out of my mouth..I was amazed by the structure (partly because it was residence of our premier and partly because of the structure itself). The sun was setting over rashtrapati bhavan and our then photographer Nilya (subsequently Ashu took the reins of photography completely) took some beautiful pictures of it. Our next stop in Delhi was India gate and AMAR JAWAN JYOT. I agree India gate has been built by Brits but guys it is a INDIA GATE after all. Since my childhood I always wanted to visit India gate and bow my head in front of AMAR JAWAN JYOT. The place is enchanted, I could feel the presence of all the named/unnamed soldiers who have died defending our country and let me tell you, the feeling/proudness of being an Indian which I felt standing in front India gate, I never felt in my life. With a heavy heart I left the India gate and after a quick trip to chandni chowk and sheesh ganj gurudwara, we embarked on our real journey towards our expedition.

In the wee hours of the morning we reached the capital city Dehradun of the hilly state Uttarakhand and for the first time we got a real break from the excruciating heat of north India. The journey from Dehradun to our base camp was a nice peaceful one through the landscape densely covered with trees.
Our first day of the expedition began soon after reaching the camp, we were supposed to run the Bhagirathi river (AKA Ganga) for a stretch of about 16 Km. For this trip our navigator was Motup sir, a veteran in the field who has conducted rafting/biking/trekking expeditions for about 21 years. He equipped us with all the necessary commands (forward/backward/left forward n right backward etc. ). Having done rafting for continuously for 5 days, Our Gappu sir’s (our next navigator) voice like HARD FORWARD still resonates in my ears during nights. When we were running the river it was quite alright but baad mein jo haath paav ki lagi na ke pucho mat…anyways the first day itself had good many adventures in store for us. We ran some really good rapids like black money, body surfer, marine drive and three blind mice. Now don’t ask me why the names of the rapids are like these because whoever I asked I was told that these were given by the early rafters and since then called as it is.
I almost forgot to tell you before, whenever we are rafting we follow the kayaks which check and to certain extent secure the way ahead for us just like a flag ship in the naval squad

During the entire rafting expedition, time n again, I kept on remembering a naval war novel which was fought on high seas… HMS Ulysses…I could find so many similarities like a one of the kayak leading the clan like flag ship and acting as scouts to clear our way ahead like destroyers or mine sweepers. Or our navigator acting as a captain of the ship as shouting commands at the other ships as well as ship mates. Or simply one ship rescuing the other ship or ship mate.

Arre rescue se yaad aaya….when we were crossing the three blind mice rapid…one of t kayakers…sonu was caught in the waves and was thrown away from his kayak…We were following him in our raft and Nilya promptly rescued him by pulling him in our raft….but the story does not end here…because the moment Nilya rescued Sonu…Sourya who was watching the action fell from the raft…Sach kehta hu I was sitting next to him and tab mere #$ kapal mein aaye the…I was sitting next to him and we were in the middle of the rapid…all I could do was to hold Sourya by life jacket…only once the rapid was behind we could pull Sourya in the raft…but the end was really good…The rest of day was spent playing volleyball (minus me) and after a hefty dinner we called the day under the star studded sky.

Over the next day we travelled up in the Himalayas and reached our second base camp near Karna prayag…it is a confluence of Alaknada and Pinder river…on our way up we crossed Dev prayag (confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi) and Rudra prayag (confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini – a river I mean…not the one from movie Ram teri Ganga maili…)

The next day was to be of full of adventure and rafting but by the sunrise we were one sergeant down as Kalpya was down with food poisioning and took rest of the day off after seeing off local doc…we missed him for the day but he soon recovered and could join us the next day with full vigour…

The day we arrived at our base camp…rains came down pouring with high wind and the water level in Alaknanda rose to a dangerous level and we had to cut our rafting track by about 9 km and curtailed it to 27 Km. But I must say even these 27 Km took every strength out of us…We were told from our navigator that the this tranche of river has been run by just about 100 guys and before and we were truly proud to join the gang…it was just fabulous…There were about 50-60 rapids to run all along the river…initially Ashu n me had decided that we will give each rapid a unique name but soon we found the exercise to be futile and our vocabulary was not helping us either……Like wise men we categorized the rapids in following categoties

1. TM – for long for please contact Jayuu…please do that it really has gr8 meaning 
2. Orgy
3. Cold Orgasm
4. Rapid Orgasm
5. Heightened Orgasm

Isn’t it a great classification?...just run those rapids you will agree with us as well….:)

Actually we had devised only 4 categories for the rapid but due to one incidence we had to create the fifth one….Towards the fag end of our journey after running the river for about 24 odd kiometres we reached a rapid which was about 4 – 4 + categot….As we approached the rapid a hugh wave (remember the old spice advertise) struck our raft in the raft killing almost entire speed…out navigator Gappu did shout the safety command but in one split second Nilya was thrown in the water and was out of our sight…the raft was moving rapidly and suddenly it struck a hole in the midst of rapid. The raft was swaying in water and while looking of Nil, I too had lost my grip of the safety rope but thankfully the spare paddle attached to the raft saved me…At about the same time when Nil went down, our navigator also has fallen in water but I had no knowledge of it…Sourya…Ashu n me were just busy clinging on to the raft and searching for Nil…thankfully after some time another wave freed us brought the raft to the calmer water…but the adrenaline surge experienced by us during this incident was just fantabulous….and needless to say that after a while everything was smooth as ever having Nil and Gappu safely in the raft..The raft following us also met with the similar fate and while rescuing the team mate (sonu again), Nandu injured his hand….but he still paddled the remaining route and the next complete day…that was gr8 Nandu…

Well rest of two days went on more or less the same way….on d last day we had a blast…we did indulge in cliff jumping and let me tell you it was awesome….ever Jayuu jumped and that was really great…

On the last day in the evening, we visited the Haridwar and witnessed the Ganga aarti…I was quite reluctant to go first but when I went there…it was worth it….very rarely you can see so many people gathering together peacefully…the entire mahual was something different…the river..the small diyas floating in the water….the pandyas worshipping the river with huge aartis …simply great….the dip in the river was quite relaxing….here Kalpya did something which for him it is unthinkable….well u should ask him about that and confirm it from me later…

But we are what we are…even on the peaceful occasion we have to do something and likewise Ashu iwas lost in crowd and only after an hour of frantic searching and announcements on the mike (which everyone but this deaf guy could hear) we could find him…..

The rest was usual stuff returning to Delhi…reaching back our beloved Nashik through Mumbai…

And that’s about it from my side….I am passing the baton to you guys…add some colours to the blog…but before I let you go…I must tell u guys…day the trip was gr8 and so were you…missing you already….see ya soon….

Fabulous Trek Vasota-Nageshwar

The year 2008 ended with a very nice memory of the trekking expedition to Forest Fort Vasota and adjoining caves of Nageshwar.
This has been one of the most memorable treks of my life.
We took MSRTC bus to reach Satara and from there again to Bamnoli...This is a small villege by the side of Koyna backwater and is a starting point of Koyna Wild life Sanctuary. The Satara-Bamnoli itself fun in itselt...it is completely different lanfsace first of all and the bus travel on road with deep vally on both the sides.. At Bamnoli you have to take permission from forest department to enter the sanctuary as well as for overnight stay.

Once you get the requisite permission, u are taken to deep in to the forest area through launch to the base camp-Met Indawali, where tents have been erected at the juncture of Koyna river and forest.
We reached met base camp at around 09.30 in the morning, by the the time we got ready for trek, our cook had prepared an excellent breakfast of shira which proved to be quite necessary and energising considering the phyical strenght required for the trek
The rest of the story later....

.म्हणाले......
'सुनामी आली ! सुनामी आली !!'

Some thing i reaally liked
